Shiloh Walker

You choose to spend a week on a desert island, but you can only have 3 things with you. What would those 3 things be and why?

Hummmm... does my family count? I'd miss them a bunch, so I sort of have to take them. A decent bed~sleeping on sand would suck. My laptop.

How did you celebrate when you heard the news from Berkley about HotSpell?

The DH and I went out~had a day to ourselves. We don't get those too often.

Of all the characters you have written, which do you think is more like you and why?

Probably Sarel from The Hunters: Eli and Sarel. She's a brat, moody...just like me.

What is your idea of a relaxing day?

Sleeping all day would be fab.

What is your favorite holiday and why?

Eh... I have two. Christmas and the Fourth of July. I'm pretty patriotic and I just love the fourth and everything it stands for. And Christmas...eh... who doesn't like presents? But I love that time of year. Even through the chaos, people seem to be a little nicer. I love doing the Christmas-y things with the kids, going to festivals, out to see lights. I just love Christmas time, it makes me remember some of the things I forget in day to day life, about love, sacrafice, and faith.

Who inspires you the most in your writing?

That depends. Most of my heroes have the traits I see in my husband~an odd sense of humor, sweet as can be at the most unexpected times.... STUBBORNESS

From time to time, I'll meet somebody who says something that makes me think... okay, THIS person is going in a book. Don't always tell them though.

Who inspires you the most in life?

Geez... I dunno. My kids, maybe. I'd love to actually be the person they see when they look at me.

Describe a day in the life of Shiloh Walker.

Getting up at seven to get my six year old to school, and her brother to the sitter...come home, maybe eat breakfast. Check email...mess around on my computer some, with groups or with my website. Write for a while...eat lunch...laundry...watch TV. Cook dinner. Go to the gym to work out or karate, depends on the day of the week and if I feel like it. Get the kids ready for bed. Go to bed. Nothing fancy.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Almost anything salty.

Do you have any hobbies you enjoy?

Photography.

What do you love most and like the least about being an author?

Being able to work when i want to and not having to answer to a boss. Having the freedom to do what I want with my life.

The least? ummmmm...edits. i hate edits.

If you could have 3 wishes, what would they be?

  • To live long enough to see my kids grow up and settle down happily.
  • To have my husband with me while I do it.
  • Maybe make a change for the better in somebody's life.
