Negative Reviews

There has been a lot of talk about negative reviews and the author’s reaction to them.

That got me to thinking (which is always dangerous with me) about the reviews I have done (and might do again). I can understand why people will avoid reading the reviewers that only give ‘glowing’ reviews, but as one that reviews like that…I felt the need explain why “I” do this.

When I started my lilcinny.com site, it was originally to list the books of my favorite authors. Each author had a page with their books listed by publisher/series..etc. Then I decided to start doing reviews, so Cinny’s Reviews was started.

I stick with the rule of, “Just because I don’t like a book, doesn’t mean others will not like the book”. I also refuse to MAKE myself read a book that I’m not enjoying. If I can’t make it through the first chapter, then I put that book down and grab another. I also figure that if it’s too boring to keep my attention, then it’s too boring for me to even talk about.

These are just my own personal…rules, for lack of a better word, that I have set for myself. That doesn’t mean that I’m sucking up to authors, or I enjoy anything and everything I read, or <insert whatever reason here>. It just means I don’t want to ‘review’ a book that I don’t/didn’t like. Simple as that. :shrug
