BTW, Serena, other places I look for inspiration for costumes: Classic art, couture designer’s websites, bridal gown websites…and (my fave source of inspiration) television and movie costumes (last year, I wore a semi-inaccurate copy of a Van Helsing costume). There are people who specialize in reproducing movie costumes, and some of those people are HUGELY talented.

First, thanks so much for dropping by! And thank you for the sweet compliment about my fairy ball costume! That was such a huge project. It took months before I was happy with it. I’m so glad it didn’t look horrible. At one point, I was about ready to give up. Sometimes it’s hard coming up with a fresh idea, and then making the costume look like the image you see in your head…well, that’s a whole other challenge.

And regarding Savage Garden. First, I’m so flattered you asked! The first book–Flesh to Flesh–is coming out in the next few weeks (squee!). June 27th. It’s being published by Changeling Press and will only be available in ebook formats. Wait until you see the cover. I am so geeked about it. I made a mockup of the design I wanted and posted in on my blog. The final design is going to be very similar.

First, I’m HUGELY flattered by your compliment! Thank you!

I had a horrible time looking for inspiration for this year’s fairy ball costume. The Under the Sea theme was so limiting, and I ended up starting four or five different dresses before I was happy with one and actually wanted to finish it. This year’s costume was partly inspired by a gorgeous piece I saw on Project Runway (if you watched, it was the black and plaid couture jacket).
