I’d like to congratulate you on your latest release, Undying Passions. Can you tell us a little about this book?

Thank you! It’s about new beginnings and second chances. Here’s a little glance into Tess and Johnny’s story… Tess Fenmore thought she had accepted the deception of her youth a long time ago. Now, ten years later, someone is stalking her, and she’s forced to face her past and ask for help from the one man who had brought her world crashing down around her, a man who still held her heart…Detective Johnny Sawyer.

What Tess doesn’t realize is the stalker’s sole purpose for terrorizing her is to get to Johnny, to settle an old score, to make him pay for betraying the memory of a dead woman by giving in to the love he’s always held for Tess. To make Johnny live in fear of losing Tess forever…

No matter how bad Johnny hurt her in the past, Tess now knows he is the only man who can keep her safe.

For those that are new to your books…How long have you been writing and what was your first published book?

I’ve been writing for five years now and had my first novel, “Wave of Fate,” published back in 2003.

Do you plot out your stories first or do you let the characters lead you?

I never plot out the storylines with outlines and such. Once I get that first paragraph down, the characters take on a life of their own – and sometimes do things that cause me to say, “What? No!” However, I let them lead me. Sounds strange, I know, but anyone who writes knows what I mean.

Of all your published books, do you have a favorite? If so, which one and why?

That’s a tough question! Well, I could say “Alone in Forrester Rock” is my favorite because it marked a turning point in my career – gave me my first big break!

Of all your published books, do you have a least favorite? If so, which one and why?

Although I hold a special place in my heart for all my books, if I had to chose I’d say my first novel “Waves of Fate” – only because I’ve grown so much as a writer since writing that book.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on a novel titled “Tropical Illusions.” Here’s a little blurb: Felicia Mathews is miles away from home, on a sandy beach, on the most beautiful tropical island where she must trust no one, not even the very sexy Nash Brewer. Little does she know, her dream vacation, the man making all those dreams come true, are nothing more than an illusion…

When you’re not writing, what genre do you enjoy reading and who are some of your favorite authors?

Although I like a variety of genres, I love what I write: Romantic Suspense. Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts are my favorites!

Describe a day in the life of Amy Mistretta.

Well, I’m up bright and early at 5:30am daily. I start off the day taking my yorkie for a walk, getting my husband off to work then making sure the kids are up and ready for school by 8:30am. By 9:00am, I’m in my office working for www.Soaps.com. Aside from being the assistant to the Editor-In-Chief, I’m also the editor for its One Life to Live division. After putting in a nine-hour day, everyone is back home to which we always share a nice dinner together. Needless to say, I do a lot of my writing at night! LOL!

Favorites…

Spending time with my husband and kids.

Favorite Season? Summer

Morning person or night owl? Both!

Favorite movie? Okay, call me a sap, but… “Dirty Dancing.”

Favorite song? “Right Here Waiting” by Staind

Favorite color? Red

Fun Questions…

If you had a shrinking device, what’s the one thing in your house you’d miniaturize first?

Definitely the laundry!

If you were a superhero, what would your super power be?

I’d love to be able to read people’s minds.

If you could build your own robot, what would it do?

Although I like to cook, a robot ‘chef’ would come in real handy on a busy day!

Instead of leaves or money, what do you wish would grow on trees?

Airline tickets… Then I could travel to a new place every weekend!

If you had to smell like one thing for the rest of your life, what scent would you pick?

The faint scent of my husband’s cologne.

Amy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule and doing this interview with me!

It was my pleasure! Thanks for the invite, Cindy! It’s always fun chatting with you!

Hi Cathy M.! Thanks for stopping by my website! Actually, I’m so into the new book, I’d like to finish this one before allowing myself to let the ‘new’ ideas distract me LOL. However, I promise, when that time comes, I’ll be sure to post about it!

    Hope you’ll visit often

    Hi Amy,

Enjoyed reading your interview. I love shrinking laundry and airline tickets on trees.

So.. are you a dark chocolate or milk chocolate lover?

Are there romance genres that you would like to write in? Genres that you definitely wouldn’t write in?

Hi Amy. I love the cover. Did you have input on it?

Hi Ann! I definitely prefer dark chocolate! If I had to pick one genre I wouldn’t care to write, I’d have to say Historicals. Although I have a lot of friends who write them, I just can’t seem to get into them…

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi Annette!

Thanks! Yes, I did have some say. I gave my great cover artist some ideas of what I had in mind and he just went with it. As always, he exceeded my expectations!

    Glad you like it

Hi, Amy! I enjoyed your interview very much but I can’t believe you wake up at 5:30! That is INSANITY! I have to wake up around 6ish for school and for the first 15 minutes after waking up, I’m a total zombie, shuffling around, maybe even a bit confused, yearning to go back to my warm, soft bed…lol!

LOL! Yes, I’m up and raring to go at 5:30am! As of right now, I’ve already walked the dog and am checking in online before I start the day!

Hope yours is a good one

Thanks for the interview. Nora Roberts is one of my favorites but I have to say I enjoy her JD Robb books much more.
