Thank you, Nancy Drew

Last summer my cousin and her DD got me interested in the Nancy Drew PC games. And now my daughters and I are completely addicted to them.
I’m not gonna complain about the money I’ve spent on them or throttle her (my cousin) ass because my girls are right here with me when I buy a new game. It makes you think and it keeps you guessing. It keeps the brain active.
My oldest DD loves to read (Yay!) and since playing the games, she now enjoys Nancy Drew books. Last week my mother called to let the kids know that a Nancy Drew movie was coming on. Only thing was…when I found the channel, it was a black and white movie and, according to the date, was in the 30’s. I figured my kids would go :wtf so I got on the computer (left it on that channel and gave them the remote).
After a while, I noticed it.
Quiet.
You mothers out there will know what I’m talking about. The Quiet is when you HAVE to get up and look for the kids because it’s TOO quiet. They HAVE to be up to something (and usually not good) if they are THAT quiet.
I turned around to go look in their rooms to see what had been destroyed and there they sat on the couch. Watching black and white Nancy Drew and enjoying it. Quiet.
:faint
They enjoyed it so much that I DVR’d the next 2 that came on (Nancy Drew marathon I guess) and my little one wanted MORE after watching those.
:faint
I couldn’t / can’t believe it. In the age of kids asking the question “What does it do?” when referring to a toy and me telling them “Hell, my toys didn’t do ANYTHING! I had to use my imagination!” (Oh hell, I feel old) I was pleasantly surprised that a black and white Nancy Drew movie was fun to watch for them.
So needless to say, DH and I took them to the theater yesterday to see the new Nancy Drew movie. I thought it was cute and they loved it. LOL
I wonder if the old ND movies are out where you can buy them? Hmmmm. I’ll have to check into that.
Until next time…
