The Things Kids Say…..

If you are a parent, then you already know that kids can say things that have you and and most of the time… :eyebrow and .

Well, Easter Sunday we are at church. My youngest (6) gets in my lap and leans up to whisper in my ear…

“Why didn’t the Easter Bunny come and see us?”

Uuuuhhhh. Hmmmm.

What else could I do?

I started laughing. In church.

And what happens when you laugh in church?

You can’t stop no matter how hard you try. Actually trying to stop only makes it worse.

A little back story before I go on with this…

I’ve never done the Easter Bunny thing with my kids. Mama never did with us and it’s not something that I ever started when I had kids. I LOVED coloring eggs and picking out my own basket and such when I was little, so I wanted to let my kids do that too and it turns out they enjoy it as much as I did.

It’s funny too because the Easter Bunny always came to my cousin’s house and I never thought anything about it. Never asked questions on why he never came to see me or anything. My oldest has never asked either.

Leave it to my youngest!!

So….

The night after that there was a program at school that we had to go to. Afterwards we go into town for something to eat. Something is said about the Easter Bunny again and I tell her to ask her Daddy what she had asked me in church. So she does.

Her: “Why didn’t the Easter Bunny come see us?”

Him: “Ummm. Because he only takes stuff to the good kids.”

Me at him: :eyebrow

I KNEW he’d say something jokingly to her. He’s ALWAYS joking around with the kids. But damn if she didn’t start crying thinking he was serious!!

Him after seeing those crocodile tears: “I’m joking!!!”

And our oldest being cool, calm and collected as always, just shrugs when I blame it on her to get the little one to stop crying. LMAO

So we decide to tell her the truth.

Me: “Sweetie, there’s no such thing as the Easter Bunny”

Her: “Oh yes there is!”

Me: “No darlin’. There’s not a big rabbit hopping all over the place giving toys and candy to kids.”

Her with the shocker: “Then if there’s not an Easter Bunny, there’s no such thing as Santa.”

Me: :faint

Moment of quiet.

Me: “Oh yes there is!!!”

Her: :whatever

Me: “Think about it. Do you truly believe there’s a big rabbit hopping around doing all of that? I’ll answer for you….NO! But Santa is REAL! He’s a man!”

Umm…he’s a man? *snort*

Anyway…

I can’t believe my child tried to ruin it for me by telling me there’s no Santa.

The nerve.

*snort* That reminds me of Palm Sunday.

Our Minister calls all the little kiddies up for “moments with the children”. He gets them settled, and looks out at all of them. “Do you know what today is?”

This little boy (probably around six) looks at him and shouts “April Fools Pastor Gary!” :hlaugh

HeeHee. Of course it WAS April Fools day, but I do believe the answer Gary was going for was “Palm Sunday” *snerk*

No Santa? :wtf Yer kid’s done lost her mind Cin. :whyme
