Another School Rant

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have major issues with the school my DD attends. What was once a great place, one of the best in fact, to send your kids to has now turned into one of the worst places in this county.
My child gets pneumonia very easy. Has since the first time she got it when she was in Kindergarten. Then she got it again in 2nd grade. Since then, if she has a cold, I do my best to try and keep her from getting it again.
This last time she got sick, she was on the verge of it turning into pneumonia and her doctor informed me that if she got it one more time, she was sending us to an Immunologist (I’m sure that is spelled wrong) to see WHY she gets it so easily and so often.
When she stops running a fever and can go back to school, I send a note saying she was NOT to go outside for recess until she is no longer coughing like she’s trying to hack up a lung. Teacher tells her she can stay in that day, but she needed a note from me listing dates she’s to stay inside.

So I send a note last week saying that she’s not to go out for the rest of the month.
I mean…a WEEK…that’s it!
Well, I pick DD up from school today and she informs me that her teacher had outside duty so she took my DD to the principal and asked what she should do with her. Principal tells DD that she HAS to go outside since she doesn’t have a doctor’s excuse.

Um, excuse me, but I’m her MOTHER! I shouldn’t need no damn doctor’s excuse to TRY and keep my child healthy! Now, I’m not stupid. I know cool/cold air doesn’t make you sick, but according to my doctor and the pediatrician, cool/cold air DOES break down your resistance! So, it was very cool today and wind blowing 15 - 20 mph and my DD was out there sucking it up then back into the school she goes where germs are ALL OVER the friggin place because there’s major shit going around here (and there) and people won’t keep their sick kids home.
But they don’t have to worry about it…right? I mean, it’s not their kid that they have to worry about getting pneumonia. It’s not their kid that they’d have to sit up with at night because they have 104 fever. It’s not their kid that they have to spend money on for all the damn doctor/hospital fees.
So no biggie to them.
I hope and pray she doesn’t get sick again, but if she does…I’m gonna blow and I’ll probably do it AT the school.
And while I’m on a friggin’ roll here…
Nutrition
Next year all the coke machines will be taken out of the schools. No more selling of chips and ice cream. They will be replaced with protein bars and juice machines.
Why do I roll my eyes? I mean, this should be a GOOD thing…right?
Well now, explain to me how this is helping kids when you turn around (and by *you*, I mean the school system) and feed them bologna sandwiches for lunch? Or better yet, lets get into all the fatty shit they feed them like grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, buritos, crispitos…etc.
So, a bologna sandwich or pizza is ok, but chips aren’t?
Hey, I’m all for healthy kids, but don’t preach to me about healthy snacks in school when they eat shit for lunch.
Cindy
has 6 more years left with that place…God help me.

I feel your pain. I went through hell with our elementary school here, too! Now I’m a whole new hell — middle school…

Hey Jill!
My oldest is in the 4th grade, so she only has to go 1 more year, but my youngest starts Kindergarten this Fall.
So yeah, 6 more years of dealing with them. *whimper*
