Seatbelts

This is a topic that makes me want to scream!
I’m in town today and I see a pick-up truck with 2 boys in the backend. They looked to be late teens/early twenties. Now, I hate seatbelts. Anyone that knows me, knows how much I hate seatbelts. I’m short, they don’t “fit” right…they are just a major PITA. Not to mention the fact that it chaps my ass that it should be MY decision whether or not to wear the damn thing, NOT because it’s some friggin’ law and I’ll get a ticket if I don’t wear it. That and the fact that I have an airbag in my vehicle that I despise more than the damn seatbelt.
Anyway…2 guys in the backend of this truck. Now I (and everyone else) can get a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt, but it’s perfectly legal for them to ride in the back of a truck like that?!?!
What’s wrong with this picture? It makes NO sense what-so-ever!
Again, anyone that knows me, knows about the wreck that my DH and his dad had 8 years ago. It killed his dad. Damn drunk drivers…another rant for another day. My DH is (as was his dad) a farmer. He has a fuel tank in the bed of his truck. On this particular day, the tank was, full (half full?)..either way..it had fuel in it and the tank empty is heavy, so can you imagine how much weight it was with fuel in it? Why am I talking about the fuel tank? Well, the impact was so hard (they guy was doing around 90mph) that it knocked the bed completely off the truck, the truck (and bed) flipped up in the air therefore throwing the fuel tank out of the bed of the truck. The truck landed upside-down in a ditch.
Can you imagine what it would have done to someone had they been riding in the backend of that truck? Yet it is LEGAL to do so and if you don’t buckle up while on the inside, you get a friggin’ ticket.
