Putting things in perspective

Today…*looks at clock*…ok, Yesterday started out great. I take little one to school and go to town. I spend all morning in town…went to the mall, bought me some new shoes…basically enjoyed the day with my mother and other little one. I get oldest from school and when I get home I hear the phone ringing as I’m tryin to unlock the door. My MIL called to tell me my DH’s uncle had passed away earlier in the day.
We were expecting this call, but you never are really ready to hear that your loved one is no longer with you. I’m so grateful that he’s not in pain anymore, but what floored me was my DD. She was close to him and I knew she would be sad, but she took it harder than I expected, so I wasn’t “ready” for that.
We were supposed to go to see him the day before, but it didn’t happen. Partly my fault cause I felt it was too late in the evening and the next day was a school day. I have to live and deal with that. This is were my priorities were screwed up…was school REALLY that important? Yes, DD would’ve been sleepy the next day, but that’s not a life or death thing to deal with. It wasn’t that important for her to get to bed on time in the grand scheme of things.
Hug your loved ones and go visit them and tell them you love them as much as you can, cause one day…you won’t have the chance.
*sigh*
