When Things Keep Building Up, You Eventually Explode

Sit back and relax (or not
) because this is gonna be long.
If you have issues with the F word…back out now.
I absolutely LOVE my youngest child’s 1st grade teacher. She is the sweetest person and the kids love her. She’s firm with them (she’ll get their attention fast! LOL) and she’s fun, so my child has learned a lot with her this year. (last year’s teacher was awesome too)
My oldest started middle school this year and it’s been okay. The principal? LOVE him! The Vice Principal? LOVE her! The secretary? LOVE her too! LOL
But (you knew that was coming), I do have an “issue” that I’ve held my tongue about.
The pediatrician I take my kids to wrote a note for my oldest child stating that any time she asks to go to the restroom, they are to let her go because it is easy for her to end up with a UTI if she holds it for any length of time. Does that mean she gets one every time she “holds it”? No. It just mean that she’s had several, therefore we try everything we can to keep her from getting one. This note was put in her file at the previous school for her 4th and 5th grade years and she did another one this year for her file in middle school.
After losing my mom 2 months ago, any kind of UTI, bladder, whatever infection makes me very uneasy. My mom had a kidney infection that went septic before she died. Mama always had trouble with UTI’s. My niece (she’s 30) and now my child have the same issues as Mama.
Anyway, the point is, she has a doctor’s note in her file for this. She has told me a few times this school year that the teacher (not the same one every time) wouldn’t let her go to the restroom. Told her to hold it until after class. I didn’t say anything, just waited to make sure no infection popped up as a result. She got lucky, no infection, therefore I kept my mouth shut.
Yesterday I picked her up and on the way home we were talking and she said she asked the teacher in her last period class if she could go to the restroom and the teacher asked her if it was worth getting a check for.
Uhhhh
?
Let me explain. If a child gets three checks (check-mark) in one week, they get detention. I was unaware until yesterday that they gave checks for going to the restroom. I understand that there are kids that abuse this, but 1. My child has a friggin’ doctor’s excuse and 2. If she is one of them that abuse this then WHY not tell me at the parent/teacher conference??? EVERY teacher told me — “She’s great. I wish I had a classroom full of kids like her.”
So, again I say,
???
A little back story for my next rant…
I have acid reflux. I’ve always had a “bad stomach”. I get nervous/upset and I’m instantly sick and my stomach is on fire. My father in law had stomach issues too. He had acid reflux and ulcers.
My oldest child has been complaining off and on about her stomach this year. It’s usually after eating something spicy, so I just cut out the spicy food for her. We had a situation this morning that made my stomach burn too. I was so friggin’ mad that I thought my head would explode.
I took my kids to school. I came home and as soon as I sat down, the phone started ringing. I answered and it was my oldest child. She was crying and saying her stomach hurt…could I come get her? I said “Sure” and grabbed my keys. On the way to the school, I kept trying to figure out what had happened in that short amount of time because she was FINE when I dropped her off at school. She was actually excited because today was the day she had to turn in her Time Line project she did for Reading class. I figured it had to be pretty bad since she’s never called me to come and get her like that.
Now I’m gonna stray off of that for a second and say she worked her ass off on this time line. I read the paper the teacher sent home last Friday, laid it on my desk and that’s where it stayed. Tuesday of this week, she researched stuff and printed off pictures and everything for a few hours. Yesterday her dad got her a poster board and last night she glued all her pictures and information on there. It was good work and I am so proud of her for her hard work.
Anyway, I go in the school and get her. When she comes to the office, she was holding her poster board and I asked if she wanted to turn that in before we leave. Her eyes get big and she shakes her head No. That’s odd. We walk outside and I start asking her what happened. I knew something HAD to happen since she was fine when I dropped her off earlier. She gets REALLY upset then, holding her stomach and crying so hard I can’t understand her. I tell her to calm down, we get in the vehicle and go home.
When we get here, she’s calmed down enough to tell me what happened. It seems we (yes, me too) screwed up on the dates on the time line project. She did the 1860’s, but she was supposed to do 1960’s. I said “Ok. That’s no biggie. I’ll get another board, you do the right time and turn it in Monday. WHY would you get so upset over that???”.
Apparently one of her friends told her she did the wrong time. My daughter goes to find the reading teacher and explained to her that she did the wrong time and could she turn that in and it be ok. The teacher tells her, “NO, that is NOT ok!”
That was bad enough, but then my daughter tells me she got scared after that and her stomach started burning because she was afraid she’d get a check for not doing the right time since the teacher just told her no, it’s not ok.
O!
M!
G!

A check??? Are you fucking kidding me??? So not only do you get a bad grade for not doing the right assignment, but you also get a fucking CHECK too???!!!!
And the weird thought that goes through my head at a time like this? If they treat a kid, that they’d “love to have a room full” of, like this, then how in the hell do they treat the kids that cause them problems???
So. I’ve got a doctor’s appointment for her Monday morning. We’re gonna get some tests done to see what is wrong with her stomach. And then I’m taking her to school (so she doesn’t miss the whole day) and I’m having a talk with the principal and hopefully the teacher too.
A check. Whatthefuckever.

Friends come and friends go, but true friends? They’ll stick by you and be there for you no matter what.
I lost half of my world (the other half being my kids and husband) in March…my mom. It was hard, it was devastating and it was unexpected. She was in ICU for 2 weeks before she passed, and those 2 weeks were damn hard. The weeks since she’s been gone haven’t been any easier. I don’t know what I would’ve done without Susan and Jaymi. Friends that I met online 6 years ago…all three of us live in different states. Aside from my kids, husband, brother, sister…etc., those 2 ladies kept me sane and I can’t thank them enough.
Susan hopped a plane and came to my house last Friday and spent the whole weekend with me and my family. It was wonderful. We talked, laughed, shopped…and I felt “normal” again. I was able to “forget” for a little while. Then Monday morning rolled around and she had to go home. I was ok until later that morning, and then reality came crashing back down on me…Mama was still gone and now Susan wasn’t there to help me forget. Needless to say, Monday wasn’t a good day.
Not many people would do that. Friendship is easy to “claim” until the chips are down. This is one lady that I am proud to be able to call my friend and I guess I’ll always wish that we lived closer together. At least in the same state if nothing else. LOL
to you my friend, and thank you so much for being here for me.
Winner!

I would like to welcome Larissa Ione, to my blog!
Thanks so much, Cindy! It’s great to be here!
I’d like to congratulate you on your latest release, Unleashing the Storm. Can you tell us a little about this book?
Well, like all of the Croft novels, it’s an erotic paranormal action-adventure romance set in and around a supersecret paranormal agency (ACRO) staffed by people with special abilities. In Unleashing The Storm, the second in the ACRO series, ACRO agent Tom “Ender” Knight, is sent to capture the heroine, who is a powerful animal whisperer wanted by an enemy agency. Unfortunately, the enemy agency is one step ahead of Tom (even though his gift is super speed,) and a pursuit ensues, made worse by the fact that Kira is as much animal as human, and she goes into a heat cycle that requires Tom’s attention at regular intervals…or she dies.
Of course, she’s in just as much danger from Ender, though she doesn’t know that…
Who is Sydney Croft?
Sydney is the pen name for me and my writing partner, Stephanie Tyler.
For those that are new to your books…How long have you been writing and what was your first published book?
I’ve been writing since I was a kid. My first completed novel was finished when I was thirteen. It didn’t sell. *g* My first sale was Flesh To Fantasy, in Secrets Volume 18, which was my first published work, out in late December 2006.
Do you plot out your stories first or do you let the characters lead you?
A little bit of both. I’m actually a recovering plotter. I’ve learned that my stories work the best if I plot loosely and then let the characters take the story where it needs to go. Too much strict and unbendable plotting made my stories stiff. I sold once I loosened up a bit.
Of all your published books, do you have a favorite? If so, which one and why?
Wow—this is a tough question! LOL Well, I think it’s a tie. I ADORE Unleashing The Storm. Kira is my favorite heroine I’ve ever written, and I think that she and Ender have such amazing chemistry. Plus, I’m an animal lover, and the book is chock full of animals. So that’s my favorite Sydney Croft story.
My favorite Ione story is Pleasure Unbound, the first book in my new Demonica series, which releases in July. With that book, I truly found my voice. My editor told me to be as dark and gritty and sexy as I wanted, and I took her at her word. *g* Plus, I got to combine the natural darkness in my voice with my favorite things – emergency medicine and the paranormal.
Of all your published books, do you have a least favorite? If so, which one and why?
Again, a tough one. I think it’s funny, because as I’m writing a book, it’s almost always my least favorite because it’s giving me hell. But once it’s finished, revised, and polished, I love it. I don’t think I truly have a “least favorite,” but I will say that Snowbound is the book that is the most distant, in both voice and content, from where I am now in my writing. I couldn’t write another book like it if I tried!
What are you currently working on?
I just turned in Shadow Lover, the second in my paranormal Demonica series, and am working on the third, title TBA. The hero is half incubus, half vampire, and he’s giving me fits! He’s very tortured, but he’s also a laid-back smartass to cover it up, so he’s got the dark, broody factor, but it’s buried deep inside. He’s very complicated, very hard to write.
When you’re not writing, what genre do you enjoy reading and who are some of your favorite authors?
I pretty much read everything, from romance to historical fiction to fantasy. Some of my favorite non-romance authors include Sharon Kay Penman, Robert Jordan, Stephen King, Ken Follett, and George R.R. Martin.
Describe a day in the life of Larissa Ione.
Oh, geez, be prepared to be bored to tears! I get up about 7:45 AM. Get my son ready for school. By 9:30 I’m in front of the computer and writing until 2. At two, I get on the elliptical and watch an episode of something on DVD (currently, Buffy The Vampire Slayer.) Shower. Do some light cleaning. Start dinner. Eat dinner. Do a little more writing/emailing. Watch TV. Go to bed.
See how exciting that wasn’t? *g*
Favorites…
Favorite Season?
Winter. Love the cold and snow.
Morning person or night owl?
Night owl
Favorite movie?
WAY too many to list. But I adore the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Galaxy Quest, Independence Day, While You Were Sleeping, Ever After, Jurassic Park…I could keep going and going…
Favorite song?
Again, too many to list. The one I’m listening to right now that I love is Long Black Train by Josh Turner
Favorite color?
Blue
Fun Questions…
If you had a shrinking device, what’s the one thing in your house you’d miniaturize first?
Coffee table. It’s a window from an old battleship, and it weighs 300 pounds and is HUGE. Takes 3 people to move it. If I could shrink it I could put it where I wanted!
If you were a superhero, what would your super power be?
There are SO many that would be great! Someone brought up teleportation at another blog recently, and yeah, I think that sounds awesome!
If you could build your own robot, what would it do?
Clean my house.
Instead of leaves or money, what do you wish would grow on trees?
Beer.
If you had to smell like one thing for the rest of your life, what scent would you pick?
Vanilla

He Lost His Mind AGAIN!!

And I need to help him find the damn thing.
A few years ago, my husband lost his mind and bought chickens for the kids.
When he bought them, they told us that you HAVE to buy 20…no less than that. The up side to this (that’s how I look at it anyway) is that, usually, not all 20 will live. It seems the *norm* is that some usually die.
Normal? Moi?
All 20 of those fu…
lived!! Not only did all 20 live, but 2 of them were roosters.
One by one, though, each of them met their maker (I love coyotes) and after all was said and done I made the DH promise me that we would never do that again. Only…guess what I was informed of recently?
Right!
While I was staying at the hospital with Mama, he decides the youngest child needs to be able to enter some chickens in the fair like the oldest was able to do a few years ago. My first problem with that? The oldest AND youngest was able to enter 1 rooster and 1 hen each in the fair last time.
So no one was left out. My second problem with all of this? He REQUESTED to get 8…count ‘em…EIGHT roosters.
He cannot begin to imagine just how mad this makes me. He tries to laugh it off and say it’s for the kids and I guess he thinks I’ll be ok with it since it’s for them. Ummm…NO!! The ONLY reason we haven’t had a fallout over this is because it’s been less than 2 weeks since I’ve lost my mom and I’ve got more pressing matters on my mind right now. We WILL, however, have that fallout just as soon as the kids go back to school when spring break is over.
